Professional Podcast Voice Over by Dean T. Moody

I’ve been so impressed with the explosion of the Podcast industry in the last ten years. There are so many different kinds of podcasts, reflecting on the news of the day, talking about the arcane details of different industries, opinions, scary stories, lessons, diaries–any subject you can think of, there’s a podcast that talks about it. They really span the gamut of genres and styles like nothing else. Of course, with the availability and affordability of the equipment needed to create a podcast, anyone can make one, which inevitably means there will also be the glut of, shall we say, amateurish productions. Nevertheless, with a little research, one can find podcasts to suit their needs. They are really wonderful for curating a very personal listening experience.
One niche in the Voiceover realm is the Podcast Intro/Outtro. These are often little snippets of text to get the listener oriented to what they are about to hear. They might also reiterate what was just heard, or give general information, such as how a listener might contact the host, or what will be coming up in later episodes. I was very fortunate to be asked to voice the opening announcements for my brilliant and very dear friend Nancy Bos and her podcast Voice to Vox, relaying her journey from being a voice teacher into the word of Voiceover. She very generously let me have maybe a little too much leeway with my deliveries! And soon I will be diving more deeply into the world of Podcasts: I am currently in talks to host a podcast wherein I interview regional businesses and entrepreneurs. Sounds like fun to me!
